Aveda is a major beauty and hair care products company that largely operates in America and has been part of the Estee Lauder group of companies since 1997 when the owner sold it for $300 million. Since its inception, it has received many plaudits for its various philanthropic and environmentally friendly policies.

The first major beauty company to sign on to the Ceres Principles, Aveda is an industry leader in environmentally friendly and green production, packaging and advertisement. However, one should not imagine that Aveda gets by merely on its reputation as an Eco-friendly company.

Aveda’s beauty products such as hair care, skin care and cosmetics are all known to be effective and rely on Ayurvedic (Ayurveda is a traditional India system of herbal therapies and remedies) therapies and herbal remedies that largely utilize certified organic raw materials. What this means is that Aveda’s hair care products not only perform well but have fewer side-effects and are less likely to be harmful.
